A Haitian Organization that is Bridging the Gap in the CommunityApplication Deadline: May 31, 2021The Haitian-American Council is pleased to invite current High School seniors who are graduating from High School in the academic year 2021-2022 to apply for the H.A.C. Academic Scholarship. This is an annual scholarship given to three outstanding seniors who have demonstrated both academic excellence and compassionate service to the community.
The basic requirements for the scholarship are as follows:1. Current Grade Status: must be a graduating senior attending one of the public schools in the Indian River and St. Lucie counties.
2. Background: must be an individual of Haitian descent.
3. Essay: Write a 250-300 word essay on one of the three prompts below:
Prompt 1: Describe a memorable childhood event that has shaped your life.
Prompt 2: Describe the lessons you have learned from an obstacle or a hardship you have experienced in life. How did that experience affect and challenge you, and what did you learn from it?
Prompt 3: Describe why it is important to serve your community. In other words, write about the importance of giving back to the community, and how acts of compassion and philanthropy can improve society and contribute to the common good.
4. G.P.A.: must have a minimum of 3.0 G.P.A. in High school to apply.
5. Transcript: please attach an unofficial copy of your High School transcript with the application.
6. College Acceptance Letter: please attach a copy of your college acceptance letter with the application.
7. Test Scores: must have a minimum score of 1000 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT.
8. Application deadline: Monday, May 31, 2021.
